Opus Plasma® offers a new type of skin resurfacing technology that is more advanced than traditional ablative laser skin resurfacing or fractional laser techniques. Baldwin Distinctive Dentistry is a proud provider of Opus Plasma®. This new technology hit the market in 2020 and has already changed countless lives.
What is Skin Resurfacing?
Skin resurfacing is a non-surgical approach to repair and renew the skin. Lasers used to be the only method of performing skin resurfacing, but now there are more effective methods. Skin resurfacing can address a large range of skin issues from minor to severe.
Collagen is one of the main building blocks of the skin and it plays a large role in keeping the skin tight. As we age the skin loses a small percent of collagen each year, causing the skin to sag or wrinkle. Older skin also has less fat and moisture and the bone density in the face starts to weaken. UV radiation from the sun, air pollution, and gravitational forces contribute to the skin starting to look older, no matter how many precautions are taken. Opus Plasma® helps rejuvenate the skin and restore a youthful appearance.
How is Opus Plasma® Different?
In the past, laser treatments were the only option to even out the skin and correct blemishes. Opus Plasma® is an advanced energy-based skin resurfacing system that uses high-frequency unipolar radiofrequency technology and plasma to rejuvenate the skin. This technology is FDA-approved and is the first skin resurfacing system that uses fractional plasma, an ionized gas that brings heat to the skin in a controlled form.
Opus Plasma® uses radio frequency-charged metal pins that make fractional traumas to targeted areas of the skin. When the pins are close to the skin, plasma is produced, creating heat, which stimulates the regeneration of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. Patients who receive Opus Plasma® treatments experience a more youthful appearance and a boost in confidence.
Treatment Expectations
Our team will assess your skin and design a treatment plan for you to receive the best outcome from this treatment. Opus Plasma® treatments only take 15 minutes. You will likely notice significant improvements in your skin with just one treatment but may need 2-3 treatments for optimal results.
Opus Plasma® treatments may cause some discomfort. Your provider may apply a topical anesthetic to eliminate some of the discomforts generally experienced with this treatment. You may experience swelling and redness 24-48 hours after treatment, but these effects shouldn’t interfere with normal daily activities.
Who is a Good Candidate?
Opus Plasma® can treat a wide variety of age groups, skin types, and skin concerns. We will adjust the energy to personalize the treatment to your specific needs.
