Invisalign Clear Braces

We know you want to make a great first impression and look your best for those you care about. In the past, if you had crooked teeth, your only option was traditional metal braces. Traditional orthodontia has helped many patients achieve a straight, beautiful smile, and is still very much in use today. However, for many patients, a more esthetic and comfortable treatment is available. Baldwin Distinctive Dentistry offers clear braces for patients whose orthodontic treatment can be successfully carried out this way.

We offer 3 options for straighter teeth: Invisalign, ClearCorrect, and Fast Braces

Invisalign/Clear Correct

Simply put, this breakthrough in orthodontic treatment provides convenience, comfort, and practicality for patients who want straighter teeth but don’t want to undergo traditional orthodontia. This procedure consists of a series of custom-made, removable invislble plastic aligners. If you qualify for treatment, Dr. Baldwin will make a model of your teeth and oral structures that will be used in conjunction with the laboratory to create your clear braces. Each set is normally worn for two weeks, then you move to the next phase of your treatment series.

Patients avoid many of the hassles associated with traditional orthodontia because the invisalign solution is removable. They can be taken out for meals, brushing, and flossing, so patients avoid dietary restrictions and complicated oral hygiene routines. In addition, the nature of the treatment means there are no lengthy appointments for adjustments. So it saves time, too. But what most patients really love about the technology is that it’s virtually invisible! You can have your teeth straightened without drawing attention to it. Our Invisalign treatments are especially attractive to patients who are beyond adolescence and wish to maintain a professional image while straightening the teeth. Actual duration of treatment depends on your particular case, but most cases are completed in less than two years.

FAQs about using clear aligners:

Who can benefit from them?

No medical or dental treatment is right for every case. Only a dentist who is trained in the technology can determine if it is a good way to proceed for the patient. Some types of orthodontic problems will still be best addressed by traditional orthodontia. Patients with mild-to-moderate orthodontic needs will get the most from this treatment. Because the treatment is removable and self-directed, patients need to be responsible enough to keep track of the aligners and to use them as prescribed.

Is this a new procedure?

Though removable retainers have been in use for many years, complete orthodontic treatment with clear aligners is a relatively new procedure, being approved by the FDA in 1998. Since then, over two and a half million patients have successfully used this treatment to straighten teeth. This number grows daily as more and more people choose clear aligners over other orthodontic treatments.

Is it expensive?

As with other types of orthodontic treatment, the cost is of an Invisalign treatment in the Las Vegas area is dependent on the complexity of your issues and your course of treatment. Typically speaking, clear aligners are comparable in cost to traditional orthodontics.

Is it available from all dentists and orthodontists?

No. Special training in the use of the technique is required.

Are there any drawbacks to using clear aligners?

Because they are removable, it’s not uncommon for aligners to get lost. We recommend that when you remove your aligner for meals, you put it into the provided case so that it is not accidentally tossed into the trash when you finish your meal. If this happens, of course we can order another aligner to replace it, however, interruptions to your treatment can prolong the duration, and no one wants the added expense of replacement. Another possible drawback is patient non-compliance, in other words, not wearing as prescribed. This can also prolong the duration of treatment. In addition, clear aligners can be stained. Even though you remove them for eating, it’s possible to stain them with beverages or even by cleaning them with the wrong dental care products. We will advise you as to how to maintain their clarity.

At Baldwin Distinctive Dentistry, we also offer Fastbraces®Clear. This procedure uses specially developed brackets and wires that move the teeth in a different way than traditional orthodontia. As such, it is capable of reaching your teeth straightening goals in much less time as a result.

Consisting of tooth-colored ceramic brackets and wires, this method of straightening the teeth offers both speed and esthetics for patients who have qualifying conditions. Because the treatment is affixed to the teeth in a similar manner as traditional braces,  and can be stained by certain pigments in foods, this procedure is recommended for patients who are responsible enough to follow certain rules regarding the care of the braces and teeth during treatment.

FAQs about Fastbraces®Clear:

Do ceramic braces stain?

Yes. There are many variables that can lead to stains on your ceramic braces, such as tobacco use and eating or drinking highly pigmented foods and beverages. By maintaining fastidious oral hygiene (brushing after every meal or even after certain beverages like coffee and tea) you can reduce your risk of stains.

How are Fastbraces different from traditional braces?

Traditional orthodontics takes the movement of the teeth in two stages. During (roughly) the first half of treatment, the crowns of the teeth are moved into position. After that is achieved, the roots are moved. With Fastbraces, both parts of the tooth are moved at the same time using a revolutionary technique, reducing treatment time dramatically.

Will I need to wear a retainer after the braces are taken off?

Yes, but for much less time than with traditional braces. Most patients require only 15-20 minutes of retention each day. Some patients opt to sleep with the retainer so they do not have to keep up with it during the day.

Do ceramic braces require special treatment?

Yes. Because they are made of porcelain, ceramic braces are somewhat more prone to cracking than metal braces. Patients must be mature enough to follow the “off limits” list of foods to avoid damage to the braces.
